Donald R. Whitney has been in private practice since 1987, 14 of those years with the same Kansas City firm, and then establishing his own practice in 2001.

 His educational background includes a bachelor degree in Business Administration from MidAmerica Nazarene University, with Magna cum laude honors.  He graduated Suma cum laude at the Washburn University School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree. Today, Don is rated "BV" by Martindale-Hubbell.

Don is proud of five children ranging from 16 - 28 years of age, and is also active in the community.  A pilot, he is a Major in the Civil Air Patrol U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, assisting with volunteer emergency services, airborne search and rescue, disaster relief and homeland security missions. He also serves as Legal Officer for his local squadron. As an amateur radio operator, and a trained weather spotter, he is also involved with community service organizations that volunteer to assist in times of disaster. Don is currently president of the local American Club Association’s Professionals Club, a multidisciplinary organization of legal, financial, insurance, real estate and other professionals that provides monthly educational workshops to its members. He also serves as a mentor for the Olathe Youth Court program. He also enjoys serving in music ministry service at his local church.

Past community service has also included serving as Chairman of the Olathe Board of Zoning Appeals, serving as President of the Phi Delta Lambda Honor Society for MidAmerica Nazarene University, coaching soccer for a number of years, serving as Vice-President of the Kansas Pilots Association and President of the Spearhead Chapter of the Kansas Pilots Association. He also helped found the Second Mile Friends Compassionate Ministries program at College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe, Kansas, and formerly served on the Site Council for a local Olathe elementary school.
